It has now been a year and the rewind and erase buttons do not work. I have owned this for approximately for a year. It functioned fine for the first month. After this buttons gradually stopped working. It just depends on what your expectations are. After that there were problems that started to come up.
It could be that too much lint has collected inside. I have carried it in my pants pocket and it has not had any abuse beyond normal everyday use. I have no reason to believe that the other buttons will stop soon. First, fine lint started collected under the plastic screen. This will significantly obstruct your view after a few weeks. The product is easy to use and has done everything that it is suppose to do as long as it worked.
If you expect it to work for more than 6 months with everyday use then look else where.
This recorder gets the job done, but is a digital recorder that does not connect to an computer to transfer the digital files over. If you are looking for a basic recorder, then this model is great. Also there is no speed control on this model to speed up or slow down speech. Also there is no on/off switch, so I found it really tricky to turn it off and it was not well explained in the manual. Quality is high and records extremely well. If you are looking to use this for transcriptions for other digital transferring then it might not be as useful.
Item arrived in perfect condition and in a timely manner. I would do business with this person again.
I agree with some of the other reviewers that this small digital recorder is over-engineered. (By the way, I thank all those who included these important tips in their reviews).Still, I carry it with me at all times and use it to record reminder notes. The epitome of simplicity.
However, once you get it set up with the default settings you want, all you do is press "record" and speak, then "play" and listen. It's ridiculous that users have to go to an online source such as this to learn how to turn the darned thing off or to upload to a computer. There are too many irrelevant bells and whistles that will probably NEVER be used by anyone.
It is aggravating, however, that the documentation stinks. Simple as that. I set my microphone sensitivity to medium and it picks up everything even across a room.
These are things that should have been made clear in the instructions. Now, I'm not so dependent on my aging grey cells.
The product does exactly what it should do. The On/Off function is not mentioned in the instruction. However, this was mentioned in one person's review that switching the hold button to the hold position will turn off the devise. So far no complain about this product.
